Multimode 62.5-micron OM1 cable is the first generation of multimode fiber optic cabling. It is an affordable way to deploy Gigabit Ethernet at distances of up to 275m. You can double the distance to 550m as well with mode-conditioning patch cord, and it even supports 10-Gigabit Ethernet over short runs.
